Nankang Sportnex Ar-1 Semi Slick

The AR1 is still considered the new kid on the block. Much talked about for quite some time but few seem to have actually have tried the latest high performance tyre from Nankang. We’ve gone through a couple of sets on the Trackdays.ie Civics and found them excellent and in terms of feel, there was no noticeable difference between them and the (albeit ageing) Toyo R888R’s that were previously fitted.

They gripped well from cold, (which is backed up by a lot of UK sprint & hillclimb competitors using them) got up to temperature in a lap or two and didn’t fade when hot. Wear rate was comparable with the Toyo’s too. All in all, a great tyre for the price.
